Prevent unwanted litters and health complications

Desexing or neutering involves removing part of a pet’s reproductive system so that they can’t have babies. Usually we perform this procedure are dogs and cats but other animals like rabbits and ferrets can also be desexed. In female animals it is called a “spey” and in males it is referred to as “castration”.

Why desex my pet at Frankston Heights Vet?

Desexing ultimately prevents unwanted pregnancies in female cats and dogs. It helps stop unwanted attention from males and reduces the wandering instinct.

There are also health benefits associated with desexing. Desexing actually reduces the risk of cancers in both males and females, as well as other life threatening conditions such as pyometra.

With the large number of strays and abandoned animals euthanised every year we recommend you desex your pet. Maximum benefits are achieved if desexing is done at a young age.

At Frankston Heights Vet we only use state of the art anaesthetics and our local suburb vets are very experienced in desexing surgery – your pet will be in the safest of hands.

Our friendly staff can give you more information about the appropriate time to desex your pet and discuss how to prepare your pet for the surgery – call us today.

"Lovely Caring People"

We needed a vet urgently after being told by our Mount Eliza vet of 20 years that we had to wait 3 hours! We were seen immediately here.  A terrible day made just that bit easier because of these lovely caring people.  Thank you!

"I Highly Recommend Frankston Heights Vet Clinic"

I have been attending Frankston Heights Vet Clinic for many many years – Why? Because their level of service, their level of care and the clinic itself is just of the highest grade. The animals’ welfare is always their first priority – not the money side of things. I highly recommend the Frankston Heights Vet Clinic.

"Such Good Staff"

Such good staff. Called around with inquiries when my pup was getting get vaccinations as I wasn't happy with the service of the vet I was going to, and this was the only vet clinic who happily answered all my questions no matter how stupid they were.
