Vaccination
Keeping your pet safe
Our vaccination approach
We follow a modern, evidence-based approach to dog vaccinations and cat vaccinations, ensuring your pet receives only what they need, no more, no less. Our protocol minimises unnecessary medication while maintaining strong immunity.
We administer a full vaccine every third year and a partial booster during the in-between years. This approach aligns with the guidelines of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), which recommends that:
“Core vaccines are administered to all animals to protect them against severe, life-threatening diseases with a global distribution, while non-core vaccines are given only to those at risk of specific infections.”
Our recommendations
Dog vaccinations
- Year 1: Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza virus, Bordetella bronchiseptica
- Year 2: Parainfluenza virus, Bordetella bronchiseptica
- Year 3: Parainfluenza virus, Bordetella bronchiseptica
Cat vaccinations
- Year 1: Feline calicivirus, Feline herpesvirus (Type 1), Feline panleucopaenia virus
- Year 2: Feline calicivirus, Feline herpesvirus (Type 1)
- Year 3: Feline calicivirus, Feline herpesvirus (Type 1)
- And then it’s back to Year 1 again.
For outdoor cats, we also recommend vaccinating against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).
