Behaviour

For when you can’t call them a “good boy”

Frankston Heights Vet - Behaviour
Just like people, pets can experience emotional challenges that affect how they behave. At Frankston Heights Veterinary Centre, we take pet behaviour seriously because understanding what’s behind an unwanted behaviour is the first step toward helping your pet feel calm, confident and happy again.

Supporting your pet’s mental health

Changes in pet behaviour often stem from fear and anxiety rather than stubbornness or naughtiness. Often, the key is to identify and treat the cause of the behaviour, instead of just discouraging the behaviour itself.

Behaviour consultations are longer than standard consultations. This gives us time to explore your pet’s environment, history and triggers. Before the visit, we might ask you to complete a behaviour questionnaire to help us tailor your appointment and create a realistic, compassionate treatment plan.

A calm environment for every visit

We use fear-free techniques and calming pheromones throughout the clinic to make each visit as relaxed as possible. For pets who find a clinical setting stressful, our outdoor consultation space offers a quieter, more natural environment to reduce anxiety.

Building happier, more resilient pets

A better understanding of pet behaviour leads to better outcomes as well as stronger bonds between pets and their families. Whether your companion struggles with separation anxiety, reactivity or confidence, we’re here to help guide you toward a calmer, happier life together.
